If you have always wanted to download videos off Youtube to your computer but couldn’t find the Download button, it is because there isn’t one! Youtube doesn’t allow it because of possible copyright infringement issues. However, there are 3rd party websites that let you do that - Download Youtube Videos. The way it works is that you copy the URL of the Youtube video that you want to download and then paste it into the form of SaveYoutube.com and hit the Download button. You then rename the downloaded video with a “.FLV” extension and use any free FLV player to watch it. This method works using a standard web browser, e.g. Internet Explorer or Firefox, and doesn’t require any software/plugins installed. FLV is the default format used by Youtube because the flash video produces smaller file sizes but maintains an acceptable playback quality that is important for streaming over the Internet. You can use one of the many available converter software to convert from FLV to a more popular format, e.g. WMV, MPEG or AVI.
